Description

This course will give you an idea and techniques how to craft a handmade
shoe. The focus of the program is definitely on the making of the shoe.
You will start practicing with some glued shoes, to understand the many
different steps of building a shoe, to get familiar with the shoemaking
tools and to get used to the material leather.
We will continue with hand welted man shoes and then using also
stronger materials which we will not use in the beginning.
Basic pattern making will be part of the program as well as cutting
techniques and upper making. We always suggest to start with a simple
model to made it easier for you in building your pair of shoes.
I will provide the uppers for the first pair. In this way, we can concentrate
on the making and afterwards there will be the time to make your own
pattern upper. We will give you the shoemaking tools for the duration of
the course. If you like, there will be the opportunity to buy your own tools
at the end of the course.
The courses are very small and we are happy to follow your needs.
The teachers of this program are all professionals, with years of
experience in the shoemaking craft. The classes will be taught by Vivian
Saskia Wittmer and her assistants.

Duration: 8 week intensive

Fee : the price included all materials in class and in the workshop,
which you need for building the shoes, insurance and taxes.
Not included are materials for your own projects.
No accommodations, airfares, food or beverage, wooden last or precious
leathers are included in the addmition fee.
Number of participants: max. 4 students

In respect of the other students and teachers there is a participation
obligation. There will be no refund after starting the program.
